The Viceport Police Department functions as the primary law enforcement agency for Viceport City, the coastal municipality in the County of Palmera.


The VPD operates under the motto: "Protect and Serve".

VPD prioritizes integrity and accountability. Officers are trained to balance modern policing with community engagement, forming partnerships with Viceport residents, even the seedy ones.

Divisions

Patrol

First responders to calls for service. Handles beat patrols, traffic enforcement, crash reports, and community outreach.​

> SWAT

Special weapons and tactics unit for high-risk incidents: hostage rescues, barricaded suspects, high-risk warrant service, and dignitary protection. Deployed by high command authorization.

K9

The VPD K-9 Division pairs specially trained police dogs with certified handlers to conduct patrols, investigations, and apprehensions.

Investigations

Conducts casework, citywide interviews, evidence collection, case building, and coordination with prosecutors.

> Homicide

Investigates murders, suspicious deaths, and officer-involved shootings. Leads scene management, next-of-kin notifications, and liaison with the medical examiner.

> Narcotics

Targets drug manufacturing, trafficking, and organized distribution. Uses surveillance, undercover operations, and prioritizes overdoses and gang-linked cases.

Internal Affairs

Safeguards department integrity. Investigate misconduct and use of force incidents and recommend training or disciplinary action.

Rank Structure

⭐⭐⭐⭐ Chief of Police: 

Sets overall policies and procedures. Approves promotions, commendations, and disciplinary actions. Coordinates with the Chief Justice, Fire Chief, Mayor, and media outlets as it relates to the public.

⭐⭐⭐ Deputy Chief of Police: 

Second-in-command. Responsible for the daily operations of the police force, facilitates coordination between departments, and assumes the role of chief in their absence.

⭐⭐ Commander (Patrol): 

​Senior command officer responsible for overseeing the Patrol, K9, and SWAT divisions and developing policies for operational execution.

⭐⭐ Commander (Investigations): 

Senior command officer responsible for overseeing the detective and undercover divisions, as well as developing policies for operational execution.

⭐⭐ Commander (Internal Affairs): 

Senior command officer responsible for overseeing the handling of internal investigations and abuse reports, as well as developing policies for operational execution.

⭐ Captain:

Responsible for overseeing revolving shifts, major units, or task forces. Accountable for the overall daily management and discipline within their command.

⭐ Lieutenant:

Middle management. Oversees shift operations within a division. Acts as a liaison between upper management and supervisory personnel.

🔹🔹🔹 Sergeant: 
First-line supervisors. Directly supervise teams of officers or detectives. Responsible for scheduling, reporting, and providing tactical guidance.

🔹🔹 Detective: 
Works in Criminal Investigations, managing cases ranging from burglary to homicide to narcotics. Can have informants and work undercover.

🔹🔹 Senior Officer (FTO):

Recognized for extensive experience and leadership skills despite the absence of supervisory authority.  Field Training Officer who is qualified to mentor new probationary officers and pass/fail their evaluations.

The standard rank is responsible for patrol operations, responding to calls for service, traffic enforcement, and various general policing duties.
